Pampadi Rajan

Biography

Pampadi Rajan is the tallest elephant of in Kerala Origin. Its speciality is its special Black colour. It also has a very logn and widest Trunk among kerala elephants. Its Edaneelam (lenght between front and back legs) is very good.

The young elephant PAMPADY RAJAN came in the place at Pampady in Kottayam district when he was just 3 years of age . "Moodankalunkal Baby", Pampady, is the Owner of Pampady rajan. BALAN MASH, the Elephant Broker noted that the young Rajan is an elephant having good lakshanams (appearance). He asked Baby to give Rajan for paattom (lease). Baby agreed and Balan Mash introduced Rajan in the northern Districts like Trissur, Palakkad .etc......From 1994-2007 season, Balanmash of Cherai represented him. Presently booking available through Owner only. He got the opportunity to take part in several festivals and Ezhunellippu there....and Rajan became one of the famous Nadan Elephant of Kerala.....

If we take the lists of famous nadan elephants of Kerala, Rajan will come in the best five.

Rajan got the awards (pattoms) like ..Gajarajan, Gajakesari,Gajarajarethnam...etc He is a single owner of a different award "GAJA MANIKYAM-" Rajan was the winner of Ithithanam Gajamela, near changanacherry two times (2006 and 2007).....On 2007 he got it by defeating famous elephants like ,Mangalamkunnu Ayyappan,Bastian Vinayasankar, Kuttankulangara Arjunan,Erattupetta Ayyappan,Chirakkal Kalidasan etc...

So he came back to pampady. Now rajan is 33 years old and his height is very near to 10 feet ...304...(10 feet is 305).

Sajan is the pappaan who made rajan this much famous. but he is no more. he was attacked by another elephant arjun.

Pambadi rajan is the tallest elephant in nadan type & 2nd position goes to guruvayoor devasm elephant padmanaban. rajan is very beautiful compare to other elaphants . his main feature is black colour of his body . good edaneelam, long trunk, veenedutha tusk( kombu ) . 18 nails.... etc....! . Rajan is a good elephant . There is a mutal understand between rajan and his old mahout SUNI . example: I n ayyappankavu temple ulsavam Ernakulam during the period january 2010 . rajan leading the pooram. before ulsavam rajans mahout "suni ettan" was slept near rajan. rajan got very hungry... me and my friends are capture the rajans photo . you know what rajan do............? he lifted the trunk and show the " panam patta " near him...! he repeat the same action 6 times..! i dont know what he was saying.... suddenly he return the trunk and comes near " suni ettan" and produced a different kind of sound. suni etten wake up and put some PATTA to him...
